The Grease of Wellbeing : Finding the Small Things That Help Life Flow
A gentle reflection on this week’s conversation — noticing where friction shows up, discovering what restores us, and learning from one another’s honest experiences.
This week in our Well of Wellness session, we explored a simple but powerful idea: sometimes the smallest missing piece can create the biggest friction in our wellbeing. We often move through life on “dry joints” emotionally, mentally, or physically, without realising that a little restoration could help everything flow with ease.
Rather than teaching in a formal way, the session unfolded as a warm conversation — a space where everyone could pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves.
What We Reflected On
We began by looking at the different dimensions of wellness — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental — and how wellbeing is more than the absence of illness. It’s an intentional journey that requires balance and awareness.
A key theme was rest: not distraction, not collapse, but true restoration. Many of us carry guilt around resting, or confuse “switching off” with scrolling, watching TV, or staying busy. The session invited us to notice the difference.
Shared Experiences
Several attendees shared honest reflections about where they’ve felt friction in their wellbeing:
- R. spoke about the loneliness she felt after moving to a new country, and how intentionally greeting people and volunteering helped her rebuild connection and ease.
- J. shared how skipping exercise leads to joint stiffness and mental fog, and how movement and supplements help her feel “good as new.”
- K. reflected on late-night habits and how shifting her routine helped her sleep better and feel more restored.
- A. discovered that adjusting her sleep time — rather than forcing a strict schedule — helped her rest more deeply.
Their openness created a sense of community and reminded us that everyone’s “missing piece” looks different.
What Happens When Restoration Is Missing
We touched on the subtle signs that show up when we’re running low on restoration: irritability, overthinking, emotional heaviness, fatigue, confusion, and difficulty sleeping. These symptoms don’t appear suddenly — they build gradually when we ignore what our body and mind are asking for.
This conversation encouraged everyone to listen earlier, pause sooner, and give themselves permission to rest without guilt.
Gentle Support for the Body
We also explored natural ways to support the body — from gut health to sleep to joint comfort — while emphasising that supplements can support wellbeing but never replace healthy habits like sleep, movement, and balanced nutrition for nourishment.
During the session, we also highlighted a few natural supplements that can be particularly helpful for the areas of wellbeing we discussed. Because everyone’s needs are different, we kept the conversation general rather than specific. If you are reading this and feel you may benefit from guidance around which supplements might be appropriate for you, or you’re seeking additional wellness support, you’re welcome to reach out to me privately. I’m always happy to walk you through options and help you identify what may best support your own wellbeing journey.
What Participants Said
The feedback was heartfelt:
- J. found the session informative and well explained.
- J. appreciated the repetition of key ideas because it helped deepen awareness.
- R. enjoyed the session even after joining late.
Many expressed gratitude for the shared experiences and the gentle, reflective atmosphere.
A Thought to Take Into the Week
Everyone was encouraged to identify one small missing piece that could help life flow more smoothly — whether that’s rest, silence, boundaries, movement, or simply a moment of mental shutdown.
Small, consistent changes create the biggest shifts.
Next Week’s Conversation
Next week, we’ll explore a theme that touches all of us: The difference between distraction and true restoration.
Not everything that feels comforting actually restores us — and this session will help us recognise the difference.
If this reflection resonates with you, you’re warmly invited to join us for our weekly Well of Wellness sessions. Each gathering is a calm, judgment‑free space to pause, breathe, and explore what your wellbeing needs — one small piece at a time.
Whether you come to listen, share, or simply sit in the atmosphere, there’s always room for you.
